Components of Emotions

Emotions and behavior

Usually an emotion is accompanied by behaviors.

Imagine encountering this bear. What do you think you would automatically do?

Running away is such a common response to fear of attack or harm that we have to be trained not to run from a bear.

Imagine you are in a zoo and encounter this bear. With bars to protect you, you might not run, but what body behaviors might you still experience? What physical changes and sensations might occur?

Think of recent times when you felt emotions. In which cases was there a behavioral component – i.e. you did something as part of experiencing the emotion.
