| Description: | So Shim Sa Zen Center is affiliated with Taego Order of Korean Zen. Although the Taego Order sustains historical traditions and preserves the original teachings handed down from the Buddha, a key concern is to adapt to changing times and to stay current with that which connects to the people.
With a perfect balance of love for the avant-garde and deep respect for the tradition, we maintain the core of the teachings, unspoiled, while making the esoteric philosophies of Zen relevant and accessible in today’s world.
Our congregation is an eclectic, closely-knit fabric of backgrounds and cultures that strengthens us as a community and enriches the daily experience of every member. The staff too, is a reflection of our diversity; the Abbot and resident monk Ven. Myong-Ahn Sunim is an English speaking American, native of Poland. Ven. Duhk-Song Sunim, Director of our Outreach Program, is a craftsman carpenter by trade, while the Director of our Wellness Programs Ven. Mooh-Sang Sunim is a Spanish-Speaking Psychologist.
We offer a wide range of programs and services for spiritual, psychological, and physiological development and wellbeing.
