| Description: | Affiliated with the Dharma Drum Mountain Lineage of Chan Buddhism, the Tallahassee Chan Group (TCG) is dedicated to the teachings of Chinese Chan/Zen Buddhism. Guogu (Dr. Jimmy Yu, Assistant Professor of Religion at Florida State University) is the Dharma teacher. He received inka (affirmation of Chan experience) from the late Chan Master Sheng Yen (1930-2009) in 1995 and is one of his senior lay teachers in the Dharma Drum Chan lineage.
The group meets every Monday evening at the TBC facility from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. There are two 20-minute periods of seated meditation, punctuated by short periods of either walking meditation or mindful Yoga. Each meeting concludes with a short session of questions and answers. Dharma talks and retreats are offered on a regular basis. |
