| Description: | Located at Rue de la Bonté, 8, the BRUSSELS Buddhist center was Belgium's first Diamond Way center and was founded in December 1999. A few years later in 2004 the GENT Buddhist center opened, at Saghermansstraat, 1b, strengthening Belguim's connection to Diamond Way Buddhism. They both belong to the Karma Kagyu lineage, one of the main schools of Tibetan Vajrayana Buddhism which is especially suited to modern and independent people.
Besides the meditation practices, the Karma Kagyu school highly values the direct transmission from the teacher (lama) to the student, a living transmission of the teachings and the insight of the true nature of mind. Buddhism is not a religion of faith where you have to believe in something or someone. It knows no dogma. All the explanations can be examined step by step through our own experiences.
As with all our centers and meditation groups, the Brussels and the Gent groups are organized on the basis of friendship, autonomy and everybody's initiative. Each one of us contributes to the organization of the center, as volunteers and during spare time. Authorized and experienced teachers give regularly lectures in an accessible way and the teachings can be very well used in our everyday life. There are no monks or nuns in our groups. In the Diamond Way, love and partnership have always been considered as a strong basis for rapid progress and development. |
