Moving into the World

1 of 8

At the hub of the Wheel of Engaged Buddhism is an image that represents the mode of moving into the world. As we pointed out in the Introduction, an exclusively inner transformation, however profound, is not the end of the path. Engaged practice entails both inner and outer work. Awareness and compassionate action reinforce each other.

Before exploring the mode of moving into the world, ask yourself whether you actually do feel that engagement not only has the potential to contribute to the world but also to affect your own personal development.

Wisdom is not authentic unless expressed in action.

Does this statement from the Introduction ring true to you?
