Fred
von Allmen
Fred von Allmen has studied and practiced under Tibetan and Theravada
teachers since 1970 in Asia, Europe and the US. He has taught
retreats worldwide for 25 years. The author of several Buddhist
books in German, he is a co-founder of the Meditation
Center Beatenberg in the Swiss Alps.

Ajahn Amaro
Ajahn Amaro (Jeremy Horner) was born in Kent England in 1956.
He studied at Wat Pah Nanachat in Thailand and received upasampada
from Ajahn Chah. In 1997 he was invited to take up residence
and lead the establishment of Abhayagiri
Buddhist Monastery in California, where he currently
resides.

Armstrong

Thanissaro
Bhikkhu
Thanissaro Bhikkhu (Geoffrey DeGraff) is an American
monk of the Thai forest tradition. After graduating from Oberlin
College in 1971 he studied meditation under Ajaan Fuang Jotiko
in Thailand, himself a student of the late Ajaan Lee, and ordained
in 1976. In 1991 he traveled to the hills of San Diego County,
USA, where he helped establish Metta
Forest Monastery, where he is the abbot. He is a prolific
writer and translator. Many of his works can be found online
at Access to Insight.

Bodhi
Bhikkhu Bodhi is an American Buddhist monk, ordained in Sri Lanka
and currently teaching Bodhi
Monastery in New Jersey. He was appointed the second president
of the Buddhist Publication Society and has edited and authored In
the Buddha's Words: An Anthology of Discourses from the Pali
Canon (Teachings of the Buddha), The Connected Discourses of

Bhante Buddharakkhita was born and raised in Uganda. Meditating

Armstrong
Sally Clough Armstrong began practicing vipassana meditation
in India in 1981. She moved to the Bay Area in 1988, and worked

Gunaratana
Bhante Henepola Gunaratana is the founding abbot of the Bhavana
Society and an internationally recognized author and meditation
teacher. Born in rural Sri Lanka, he has been a monk since age
12 and took full ordination at age 20 in 1947. “Bhante G” (as
he is fondly called by his students) has written a number of
books, including the now-classic meditation manual Mindfulness
In Plain English and its companion Eight Mindful Steps
to Happiness. Bhante G regularly leads retreats on vipassana,
mindfulness, metta (Loving-friendliness), concentration, and
other topics both at the Bhavana Society and elsewhere.
